Overview 2016 - 2017

In the Early Years, we are very ‘child led’ in our learning and although we do introduce new topics regularly, we are also keen to pursue the children’s interests and draw learning opportunities out of their play. As a result, our long term planning is broad in focus and topics are not fixed.

There are 7 areas of learning that make up the EYFS and these are all addressed all the time throughout every topic and theme. These are: Communication and Language, Physical Development, Personal, Social and Emotional Development, Literacy, Maths, Understanding of the World, Expressive Arts and Design.

Planning is tailored towards each individual child’s next steps through careful tracking and ongoing assessment against the Development Matters Statements and at the end of their Reception year, the ‘Early Learning Goals’
