Westbourne Primary School

At Westbourne Primary school our pupils have decided that they come to school to “learn, look after each other, have fun and succeed”. Our school curriculum reflects these goals and is designed to support the development of our individual pupils intellectually, emotionally, socially, physically and spiritually.

We aim to:-

• provide a learning environment which enables the children to become self-motivated, independent, confident learners who achieve to the best of their ability.
• provide learning opportunities which enhance the National Curriculum and to develop in the children a responsibility for themselves, their community and the environment.
• make your child’s time with us, challenging, happy and stimulating in order for them to achieve the highest standards possible across the curriculum.

​Within school we work in a flexible, creative way that takes the interests and needs of individual children and adults into account to ensure the learning of knowledge, concepts and skills. We all learn together, how to care for the environment and become good citizens who are well prepared for the next stage in education and for life in a multi-cultural, globalised society.

Through our curriculum at Westbourne Primary School, we pass on enduring values, develop children’s integrity and autonomy and help them to be responsible and caring citizens, capable of contributing to the development of a just society and achieving future economic wellbeing.

At Westbourne Primary School we offer an active, broad and balanced curriculum which uses outdoor and indoor learning and promotes physical, intellectual, linguistic, emotional and social development of all our children and prepares them for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of later life.

Children in Reception class follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum 2014 working towards the Early Years Outcomes and children in years 1 to 6 follow the National Curriculum 2014 as directed by the Department of Education. As well as this, intertwined throughout all our learning is spiritual, social, moral and cultural development, including learning and practicing fundamental British Values. We value all the work we do as a credited ” Healthy School”, “ Eco Silver School” and “ Growth Mindset” school.
